Puschel’s Giant Pancakes
Puschel makes paper-thin pancakes on a giant scale. Flauschi giggles when they hang over the plates—then they roll up jam and chocolate-hazelnut spread inside.
The little story
Much Too Big for the Plate
Puschel had picked the biggest pan in the Wuselhouse and swirled the batter almost to its edge every time. Now a stack of paper-thin golden giant pancakes sat on the table.
Puschel„If we’re making pancakes, let’s make them really big!“
He put one on his plate. Its edges hung over every side. Flauschi’s did the same. She looked at the small plates, then at Puschel’s proud face, and started to giggle.
Flauschi„Puschel, you really went overboard with the size!“

Puschel spread chocolate-hazelnut cream on his pancake. Flauschi spread jam on hers. The thin edges wobbled over the plates until they carefully rolled their pancakes up.

Puschel„Now it might fit in my paws. Let’s see if it fits in my tummy!“
Puschel took an eager bite. Flauschi tasted hers and giggled again. Their plates could barely hold the giant pancakes—but rolled up, they tasted wonderful.

Total: about 50 minutes (including 10 minutes resting the batter and brief cooling). Preparation: about 5 minutes · Cooking/baking: about 30 minutes. Times are estimates.
Makes about 6–8 large pancakes
How to make it
In a few words: Cook large pancakes, spread thinly with jam or hazelnut spread and roll up.
Ingredients
- 250 g plain flour
- 500 ml milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp neutral vegetable oil for the batter
- A little oil or butter for the pan
- 4–6 tbsp fruit jam
- 4–6 tbsp chocolate-hazelnut spread
Method
- Whisk the flour, milk, eggs, salt and 1 tbsp oil into a smooth, pourable batter. Let it rest for about 10 minutes.
- An adult heats a little fat in a non-stick pan about 28 cm wide. Pour in about one sixth of the batter and gently tilt the pan to spread it thinly. Depending on thickness, this makes about 6–8 pancakes.
- Cook each pancake over medium heat until golden on both sides. An adult turns it and sets it on a large plate. Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Let the pancakes cool a little. Spread a thin layer of jam or chocolate-hazelnut spread on each one, roll it up and enjoy together.
