The blue Wuselhörnchen

Puschel

Puschel thinks with his heart, starts with momentum and usually asks about the plan once he is already on his way.

JobTinkerer and all-purpose helper at the Wusel Workshop
NatureCurious, optimistic, brave and wonderfully wuselig
Greatest strengthHe never gives up on anyone—or any idea—too quickly
Little weaknessHis enthusiasm is often faster than his paws
Favourite momentWhen a mishap becomes a good story

His job at the Wusel Workshop

Puschel builds, repairs, carries and enthusiastically tries every unusual idea. When someone in the Wusel Forest needs help, he usually has a tool in his paw—sometimes before Flauschi has finished explaining the plan.

How to recognise him

Rich blue velvety fur, a light-blue tummy and full cheeks, large open eyes, a small black nose, visible squirrel ears, a soft side-swept tuft and a large blue-and-light-blue tail. His body is compact, round and plush.

Typical Puschel

  • Raises one paw as soon as a new idea appears.
  • Talks faster when excited and loves to begin with “I’ve got it!”
  • Tries to surprise Flauschi, although his face reveals every secret.
  • Packs too many snacks, towels or tools—just in case.
  • He is not afraid of falling, only of someone being left alone.
Puschel“That may not have been the plan—but it could still become wonderful!”

The orange Wuselhörnchen

Flauschi

Flauschi notices the little things, hears what is left unsaid and often finds a way out before Puschel realises they need one.

JobIdea finder and Wusel Forest organiser
NatureWarm-hearted, clever, calm and quietly playful
Greatest strengthShe combines good sense with exceptional empathy
Little weaknessSometimes she wants to handle everything alone
Favourite momentWhen Puschel thinks he has truly surprised her

Her job at the Wusel Workshop

Flauschi listens to wishes, turns them into good plans and organises festivals, outings and special surprises. She keeps an eye on materials, schedules and Puschel’s enthusiasm—and often spots the best solution in the middle of the biggest mess.

How to recognise her

Bright orange velvety fur, a cream muzzle and soft light tummy, large expressive eyes, a small brown nose, neatly flowing hair, a pale flower by her ear and a large fluffy orange tail.

Typical Flauschi

  • Tilts her head when she has already understood Puschel’s plan.
  • Speaks calmly and usually gets straight to the point.
  • Has plans A to E, while leaving room for Puschel’s spontaneous plan F.
  • Collects flowers, knows the best berry spots and balances remarkably well.
  • She fears disappointing others and sometimes needs reminding to accept help.

Where they live

Welcome to the Wusel House!

A cosy little house at the edge of the forest, with round windows, a staircase tower and room for two big ideas at once. Most of the time.

Front: the way home

Puschel“I could find our door with my eyes closed!” says Puschel. Flauschi smiles. Flauschi“Good. Yesterday you still knocked on a window.”

The living room – where the day can slow down

The front door leads into the cosy heart of the Wusel House. Light wood, cream walls and green plants make it welcoming. The stone fireplace stands between two round windows. A black sofa and matching armchair face it, with space between them for passing tails.

The low table has room for a cup, a book and an idea that is still taking shape. Here the two share adventures, read together or listen to the rain. They have no television: Puschel’s stories already have plenty of surprising twists.

Puschel: Puschel“I’ll tell you very briefly what happened today!”

Flauschi: Flauschi“Then I’d better put out a second cup.”

Step inside · Room 2

The kitchen – two seats and wonderful smells

The kitchen is right beside the living room. Exactly two chairs stand at the little wooden table: one for Puschel and one for Flauschi. Round windows light the pale worktops and gently green cupboard doors. Many days start here with breakfast together.

The tall fridge stands in the back corner. Beside it are the oven and hob, with the sink farther to the right. Ingredients, dishes and even Puschel’s enormous appetite have a place here. They tidy up together after cooking, though first there may be a flour spot on someone’s nose to discover.

Puschel: Puschel“I’ve laid the table already. All we need is the cake!”

Flauschi: Flauschi“And to bake it, you little planner.”

Step inside · Room 3

The workshop – ideas can come from every side

The workshop opens off the living room. Its low worktable stands freely in the middle. Puschel and Flauschi can work from every side, pass things to each other and walk around it. Painting paws go on the paper; the Wusels themselves stay beside the table.

Baskets and wooden crates hold craft materials. Brushes and tools have places on the wall, while the table is ready for colour. The round windows open inwards, with ring handles for the window rods. After a paw painting, everything goes back in its place, sometimes after a very thorough paw wash.

Puschel: Puschel“My picture has a blue paw print now!”

Flauschi: Flauschi“So does your paw. A very good match.”

Step inside · Room 4

The bathroom – a little tub and a lovely pause

The bathroom has a low wooden tub, a small sink and a toilet with its seat and lid firmly attached. The tub has a headrest and a little shelf. Everything is sized for the two Wusels; there is no extra step stool to get in their way. A little washing machine beside the sink takes care of their laundry.

Two round frosted windows let in light while keeping curious eyes outside. They open inwards. Window rods for the ring handles are stored neatly on the wall. The tub is empty before they get in; after bathing, they drain it completely and dry themselves before climbing out. A paint-covered paw can become a cuddling paw again.

Puschel: Puschel“My paws were a rainbow a moment ago!”

Flauschi: Flauschi“Now they can touch the towels without redecorating them.”

Step inside · Room 5

The bedroom – a nest for two

The wooden stairs lead straight from the living room into the bedroom. A railing guards the stair opening. Their shared low wooden bed waits here, with soft pillows, pale bedding and a pink knitted blanket that looks especially inviting after a long day.

Two round windows on different walls bring in woodland light. Plants, books and the soft rug make this a peaceful retreat. The dressing room leads off it, and the little upstairs toilet is nearby. In the evening they share a favourite moment. Sometimes “just one more sentence” becomes a whole bedtime story.

Puschel: Puschel“I’m not sleepy at all. I’m just resting my eyes in advance.”

Flauschi: Flauschi“Then I wish your eyes lovely dreams.”

Step inside · Room 6

The dressing room – a little order and a little sparkle

The dressing room sits beside the bedroom. Light wooden furniture, two round windows and a pink-and-cream rug give it a friendly, peaceful feel. A low padded stool stands at the little dressing table, beneath an oval mirror. Here Flauschi can straighten her flower and try a new sparkling idea.

The cupboard and baskets hold cloths and little favourite things. Plants make the room cosy, and the table is ready for a careful look in the mirror. Puschel can look too, especially when he wants to know why Flauschi is giggling at his nose.

Puschel: Puschel“Why is my reflection laughing?”

Flauschi: Flauschi“That’s you. And there’s still a flour spot on your nose.”

Two paths through the Wusel House

Upstairs to rest, downstairs to celebrate

Two separate staircases lead on from the living room. On the left, the U-shaped staircase goes up to the first floor, with the bedroom and dressing room. Right beside it, the straight basement staircase leads down towards the Wusel party cellar, the cosy Wusel lounge.

At the bottom, you first reach the landing in the stair annex. From there, the route turns back towards the main room and the Wusel lounge, with its juice bar, cosy armchairs and open dance floor. The room entrance is outside this picture’s view.

Step inside · Room 7

Wusel Party Cellar

The Wusel Party Cellar has a glowing blue juice bar, three cosy armchairs and a small black marble table. The gramophone provides the music, and the open oak floor invites everyone to dance. There is room to walk around the foot of the stairs.

From every side

From ear tips to fluffy tails

Here are Puschel and Flauschi from the front, the side and the back. Since even a Wusel squirrel’s body parts have little jobs, they would like to introduce themselves too.

A true Wusel team

They belong together because they are different.

Together they run the Wusel Workshop for Special Ideas. The residents of the Wusel Forest bring them wishes, little problems and wonderfully wild ideas. Flauschi makes the plan, Puschel sets it in motion, and the inevitable chaos almost always becomes something lovely.

Puschel brings movement to Flauschi’s plans. Flauschi gives direction to Puschel’s ideas. They laugh with each other, never at each other, and both are allowed to be clever, brave, silly and vulnerable.

What matters to our hearts

Our Wusel rules

Ten rules of the heart that guide Puschel and Flauschi. Things do not always go right straight away – but they keep trying together.

  1. Every Wusel matters equally.

Loud or quiet, quick or careful: everyone belongs.

  2. You do not have to be perfect to be loved.

Even with tousled fur, an idea that went wrong or a difficult day, you matter.

  3. We help each other – and may need help ourselves.

Nobody has to do everything alone. Even the cleverest minds sometimes need another paw.

  4. We laugh together.

A mishap can be funny. If someone feels embarrassed or sad, we stop and stand by them.

  5. Every voice counts.

We listen to each other. No means no, and nobody has to join in just because others want them to.

  6. We tell the truth about what happened.

When something goes wrong, we do not hide behind excuses. We apologise and help put things right.

  7. We stay curious and look after each other.

Questions and trying things are part of being a Wusel. When there is danger, we pause and get the right help.

  8. The Wusel Forest is home to others too.

We respect animals, plants and their hiding places. We take only what we need and leave no litter.

  9. We share what brings joy.

Ideas, time and a place at the table. We also respect what someone wants to keep for themselves.

  10. We give each other time.

To learn, rest, feel sad and start again. Not every day has to sparkle for us to be there for each other.

And when everything gets muddled, we start again with the first friendly paw.
