Flauschi’s Pear Cooler

Mild, fully cooled rooibos tea meets pear slices, and Puschel spots a little pear boat.

The little story

The Floating Pear Boat

Flauschi planned a quiet picnic break. An adult had brewed the rooibos, and it had already cooled completely. Now she added thin pear slices.

Puschel leaned towards the jug curiously. Puschel“A little pear boat!” One slice made a slow circle in the amber tea.

Flauschi poured. Flauschi“Our pear boat can stay in the jug. Let us get comfortable.” Puschel adjusted the picnic basket.

They sat together and tasted the mild tea with a gentle hint of pear. Puschel sighed contentedly. Puschel“We should pack a break like this more often.”

Preparation: about 10 min · Infusing or cooling: about 60 min · Total: about 70 min

Makes 4 small glasses of about 200 ml

How to make it

In a few words: Brew rooibos tea, cool completely and add pear slices.

Ingredients

  • 800 ml water
  • 1–2 bags of pure rooibos tea without added sugar (follow packet dosage)
  • ½ small ripe pear

Method

  1. An adult boils the water and pours it over the rooibos tea. Follow packet dosage and steeping time.
  2. Remove the tea bags. Let the tea cool completely in a safe place; allow about 60 minutes or longer depending on the container and room temperature. Do not hand hot tea to children.
  3. Wash hands and pear thoroughly. An adult removes the core and cuts thin pear slices.
  4. Add the pear slices to the cooled tea. Refrigerate until serving, then divide between four small glasses. Use pure rooibos, not a blend with black or green tea.
