Puschel’s Crispy Cheese Paws

Crispy toast, melted cheese and colourful vegetable faces—an easy meal with a built-in cheese strand.

The little story

The Never-Ending Cheese Strand

Flauschi carefully decorated her cheese paw with pepper eyes and a little tomato mouth. Puschel was certain that his toast needed one extra helping of cheese. And then another, just to be safe.

Puschel“Lots of cheese must hold things together much better.”

When they lifted their finished cheese paws, a long strand stretched from Flauschi’s plate across the table. It looped around Puschel’s paw, tickled his nose and simply refused to break.

Flauschi“I think your toast would like to meet mine.”
Puschel“Then they must be cheese friends for life.”

Flauschi laughed, divided the strand fairly down the middle and handed Puschel a napkin. Both cheese paws tasted wonderful—they simply could not move very far apart while eating them.

  2. Use a large paw or flower cutter—or simply leave the bread square.
  3. Spread thinly with cream cheese and add the cheese. Make funny faces with pepper and small tomato pieces.
  4. Bake for about 8–10 minutes until the cheese melts and the edges are crisp.
  5. Cool briefly and add the fresh cucumber slices afterwards.
