The Missing Cuddle Nut
Puschel's favourite nut has disappeared. A little search turns into an imaginary adventure, right in the Wusel workshop.
About 5–8 minutes with movement breaks · no equipment · seated options
Before you begin
Listen to the story or read it at your own pace. Put the device aside for the movements. Ask an adult to help prepare clear, non-slip space or a stable seat. You do not need a real nut. You may make any movement smaller, watch or take a break.
1. An empty basket

Sunlight shone through the round workshop windows. Puschel and Flauschi had tidied up and moved the table safely aside. There was lovely open space in the middle.
Puschel peered into his little basket. Then he held it a bit closer to his nose.
Puschel: Flauschi? My cuddle nut has gone.
Flauschi: The one with the little dent?
Puschel: That's the one. It fits so nicely between my paws.
Flauschi looked around. Something round peeped out from under the yellow cloth on the table. She was about to point when Puschel straightened up.
Puschel: I've got an idea! Let's go on a searching walk. Through a woodland we make up!
Flauschi smiled. The nut could wait a little moment.
Flauschi: Then our woodland starts right here in the workshop.
Puschel put the basket at the edge. He opened and closed his paws, then stretched gently upward.
Puschel: My searching paws are ready!
2. The cucumber root

Puschel lifted one foot and carefully put it back on the wooden floor. Then he lifted the other. He stayed in his own spot.
Puschel: Watch out, a root! It looks like a crooked cucumber.
Flauschi: Then let's step over it kindly.
Slowly they took turns lifting their feet. Puschel's tail bobbed a little with every step.
Puschel: Do you think cucumber roots are ticklish?
Flauschi: Ours certainly are. That's why we put our feet down very quietly.
Beyond the last imaginary root, they stopped and listened. Nothing rustled. Nothing crackled. Only Puschel's tummy gave a tiny grrr.
Puschel: My tummy has a question too. Is there something to eat after our walk?
Flauschi giggled.
3. Two fluffy trees

A tall nut tree now stood in their imaginary woodland. Puschel looked up into its invisible crown.
Puschel: Perhaps the tree knows where my nut is.
Flauschi: Let's pretend to be trees ourselves for a moment.
They placed their feet comfortably apart and spread their arms. A gentle imaginary breeze brushed through their branches. They swayed a little one way, then the other.
Puschel: I'm an especially fluffy tree.
Flauschi: I can hear that. Your tree is giggling.
Puschel lowered his paws. Then he noticed the table at the side.
Puschel: There's a little yellow hill over there!
Flauschi: Our cloth. Shall we look underneath?
Puschel nodded. He simply had to explore that part of the woodland.
4. A cosy hiding place

Flauschi lifted the yellow cloth. Underneath lay the nut. With its little dent.
Puschel: There you are!
He gently cupped it between his paws. Suddenly he remembered.
Puschel: I tucked it in while we were tidying. To keep it cosy.
Flauschi: That seems to have worked very well.
They brought the basket over and sat side by side on the clear floor. Puschel gazed at his cuddle nut.
Puschel: It slept through the whole walk.
Flauschi: But we discovered a cucumber root and two fluffy trees.
They sat quietly in the warm sunlight for a while. Puschel felt his tummy rise and fall all by itself as he breathed.
Then he pulled the yellow cloth a little closer to the nut. He paused. Looked at Flauschi. And pushed the cloth back again.
Puschel: Today it would rather sleep without a blanket.
They both laughed. And the cuddle nut stayed exactly where Puschel could see it.
