A Leap Through the Seasons

Beyond the tree home, four round islands lay across the path. The first was covered in pink petals, the second in warm grass, the third in rustling leaves and the fourth in soft snow. On each island, one coloured petal of the glass flower began to glow.

Puschel bounced on his paws. Puschel“This is clearly a season-jumping course.” Before Flauschi could answer, he leapt into the blossoms, hopped across the grass and landed in the middle of the autumn leaves.

The leaves slid beneath his feet. Puschel waved his arms, caught his balance with his tail and stopped before the snow island. Puschel“Everything is under control,” he said, studying the final gap with exceptional care.

Flauschi ran beside the islands, holding the glass flower by its green ribbon. Flauschi“You do not have to be faster than the weather,” she called. Flauschi“Just steady until the other side.” Puschel breathed in, took a run-up and jumped. Snow sparkled around him as he landed safely.

All four glass petals shone at once. Ahead of them, deep in the forest, an arch of dew appeared. Flauschi clapped and Puschel raised his paws. Puschel“Four seasons in record time!” — Flauschi“And even in the correct order this time,” Flauschi said. Together they ran towards the new trail.
