Puschel’s Mishaps · 34
One Umbrella for Two

In the middle of their woodland walk, gentle rain began to fall. Puschel proudly pulled out a little yellow umbrella that he had brought just in case.
Puschel“Do not worry! There is easily room for both of us under here.”
Puschel stood on the left beneath the umbrella and Flauschi on the right. They shuffled back and forth, bumped shoulders and kept pushing the umbrella from one side to the other.
Flauschi“My ear is dry, but my whole tail is having a shower.”
Puschel“It is exactly the other way round for me!”
For a while, each of them fussed over their own half. Drops still fell from both tail tips, and the roomy shelter Puschel had promised was nowhere to be found.

Flauschi“Perhaps the umbrella needs less space between us.”
Flauschi linked her arm through Puschel’s and they moved shoulder to shoulder. Suddenly the umbrella sat perfectly above them.
They continued close together and laughed about their wet tail tips. Puschel had been right after all: the umbrella did have room for two—his plan only needed to move a little closer.
