Puschel’s Mishaps · 31
The Suitcase Strike

On the morning before their journey, Flauschi placed her green suitcase open on the bed. Towels, book and washing things each received a neat place of their own.
Puschel“I prefer to pack for every possible holiday situation.”
Several towels, socks, a sun hat, a pillow, a brush, a leaf umbrella and even his little toy boat went into Puschel’s brown suitcase. Finally, he tried to throw in one more roll.
Flauschi“Are you planning a journey or moving the entire bedroom?”
Puschel pushed down the lid and sat on it with all his weight. The suitcase continued to bulge upwards. Its two clasps hovered far from their catches while socks, pillow and boat peeped out around the sides.
Puschel“Nearly closed. All it needs is one very small suitcase miracle.”

Flauschi looked from her half-empty, neatly packed suitcase to Puschel’s wobbling seat and slowly shook her head in disbelief.
Flauschi“Or a very large wardrobe on wheels.”
At last Puschel removed the pillow, three towels and the toy boat. The lid closed at once. The boat stayed at home to look after the suitcases.
