Puschel’s Mishaps · 29
The Runaway Front Wheel

In glorious sunshine, Puschel and Flauschi cycled through the forest. Puschel led on his red bicycle while Flauschi followed a short distance behind on her green one.
Puschel“With a little tailwind, we will surely reach the clearing before the picnic basket!”
Then a quiet clack came from the front. Puschel’s front wheel slipped out of the fork and suddenly rolled down the path on its own. Puschel’s eyes grew wide, and Flauschi braked in alarm too.
Flauschi“Puschel, your wheel is riding on without you!”
Puschel planted both feet on the path, let the red bicycle roll gently to a stop and dashed after the runaway. Just before the bend, he caught the tyre and held it firmly with relief.

Puschel“Phew! My bicycle nearly got a head start.”
Puschel wiped his brow with his free paw. When Flauschi stopped beside him and saw his puzzled face, she laughed so heartily that her flower bobbed.
Flauschi“Luckily, only the wheel went on an adventure.”
Puschel“Next time I will check the bolt first—and then the tailwind!”
