The Wusel dance with a built-in rest

Puschel invents a dance. Flauschi discovers the movement it absolutely needs: a rest.

About 5–8 minutes with movement breaks · no equipment · seated options

Before you begin

Listen to the story or read it at your own pace. Put the device aside for the movements. Ask an adult to help prepare clear, non-slip space or a stable seat. You do not need any objects for this imaginary game. You may make any movement smaller, watch or take a break.

1. A little room to dance

Puschel waves to Flauschi during their little dance; both feet stay on the floor.
A little room to dance

The table stood safely to one side. Puschel looked at the clear middle of the workshop.

Puschel: There is room for a tiny dance here.

He took a small step sideways and brought his other foot comfortably alongside.

Flauschi: Tiny is good. That leaves room for our tails.

2. Hello, dancing paws

Flauschi lifted a paw and waved. Puschel waved back.

Puschel: Is that dancing already?

Flauschi: If our paws feel like it.

Puschel thought his paw felt very much like it. It still waved very slowly.

3. The most important part

Flauschi and Puschel rest with their paws lowered during their dance break.
The most important part

Puschel was about to step sideways again, but Flauschi stood still.

Puschel: Has your dance fallen asleep?

Flauschi: No. This is the built-in rest.

Puschel lowered his paws. This part was surprisingly easy to remember.

4. Their very own Wusel dance

Now they joined it together: a little step, a wave, a rest. Next time Flauschi waved first.

Puschel: Our order has changed again.

Flauschi: Then that is our new order.

They did not have to perform for anyone. Their little dance belonged to them.
