The Glowing Rhythm

At the end of the meadow, round stones lay in the grass. One lit up, then another. Whenever Puschel jumped too soon, both went dark again.

Flauschi“It is a rhythm path,” Flauschi realised. Flauschi“We must jump together.” Puschel bounced on his paws. Puschel“I can do together especially fast.”

Flauschi counted softly to three. On their first attempt, Puschel landed a nose-length early; on the second, Flauschi was half a tail-beat late.

Puschel“Not faster and not slower,” Puschel said. Puschel“Simply together.” Flauschi nodded. This time they looked at each other and jumped at the very same moment.

Stone after stone shone all the way across the vale. The star lantern swung safely from Flauschi’s paw, and its third spark blinked in time with their steps.
