Puschel’s Wrong Note

Among the bellflowers, Puschel discovered a curled leaf. It looked like a tiny horn, and to him that clearly meant the vale was waiting for a concert.

Flauschi“Very gently,” Flauschi advised, placing the star lantern safely on the ground. Puschel nodded—and inhaled until his cheeks became perfectly round.

The note was not gentle. A whirl of petals rushed around his ears, lifted three leaves and placed one neatly on his nose.

Puschel“Was that the melody?” he asked from beneath the leaf. Flauschi shook her head with a smile. Flauschi“Not yet. But it was certainly the funniest opening.”

On his second attempt, Puschel blew only a whisper. A single bellflower answered, and the lantern’s third spark bounced contentedly.
