The Path of Notes

Beyond the light-stones, the visible path ended. Only dark grass lay before Puschel and Flauschi, and even the map showed nothing here.

Then a bright bell-note sounded to the right. A silver flower began to glow. Farther uphill, a second answered before the first went dark.

Puschel“The path is singing itself,” Puschel marvelled, raising the star lantern. Flauschi studied the sequence. Flauschi“Then we must not miss a single note.”

They slowly followed the travelling light. When Puschel started to turn left, Flauschi held his arm. Flauschi“Listen first, bustle second.” — Puschel“A surprisingly sensible travel rule,” he admitted.

At last, the chain of bellflowers drew a shining path to a distant hill. A star-shaped light glimmered at its summit, and the third spark in their lantern answered.
