A Gift Without a Bow

Puschel puts coloured pencils into a small wooden cup and straightens a stack of paper with his other paw. Flauschi watches him with a pleased smile. The warm Wuselhouse still has its four-pane round window and golden autumn trees, one paper star, the decorated pine cone and the little bell on its cloth.
A little help can be a gift without a bow.

That morning, coloured pencils, paper and a few pine cones were still scattered across the craft table. Puschel thought about Flauschi's secret Christmas idea from yesterday. He was curious, of course, but he left her ideas page alone.

Instead, he put the pencils in their little wooden cup and stacked the loose sheets neatly. He left the scissors for a grown-up. Flauschi came over and looked at the clear space in surprise.

Flauschi‘Now our next idea has room to begin,’ she said. Puschel grinned. Puschel‘But I haven't wrapped a present!’ Flauschi smiled and shook her head.

Flauschi‘You just gave me a little time.’ Puschel looked at his blue paws. So this was another way to look forward to Christmas: one small helpful thing, without a bow.

Your little preparation

Tidy a small shared space together, or set out pencils and paper for the next idea. Ask first if the things belong to someone else. One tiny bit of help is enough.

For adults: Adults handle scissors and long strings and watch out for small craft pieces that could be swallowed. No one has to tidy up to earn a present.
