A Place for Guests

The tidy table had room for new ideas again. Puschel looked at the Christmas keepsake box, where the hedgehog's kind reply was waiting. Puschel‘If he visits us during the Christmas season, he will need somewhere cosy to sit!’ He carefully moved a wooden chair towards the table.

Flauschi brought a soft green cushion and placed it on the seat. Puschel admired their work. Puschel‘Now all we need is the hedgehog.’ Flauschi smiled.

Flauschi‘First we will ask whether he would like to come. There is still plenty of time before Christmas.’ Puschel nodded and held the backrest while Flauschi adjusted the cushion. Puschel‘Then the chair can look forward to it with us.’ Outside, the golden autumn leaves glowed.

The paper star hung quietly in the round window, and the little bell stayed on its cloth. They had added no new Christmas decorations today. But something had grown between the table and the chair: room for someone they would be happy to see.

Think together of someone you would enjoy spending a cosy moment with during the Christmas season. Make an existing seat comfortable with a cushion, or talk about what your guest might like. An invitation and a date can wait until later.
