Three Warm Words

Yesterday’s colourful paper samples lay neatly beside the pencils. Puschel looked at them. Puschel“So Christmas can be blue.
PuschelBut what does Christmas sound like?” Flauschi rested her paws on the table. Flauschi“Perhaps we can find three words that feel warm to us.”
Puschel thought for a moment. Puschel“Cake!” Flauschi laughed.
Puschel“That is a cosy beginning.” He held one paw against his chest. Puschel“But I don’t just mean cake.
PuschelI mean when we stand in the kitchen together and someone tastes the mixture.” Flauschi“Perhaps your word is together,” suggested Flauschi. Puschel nodded.
Puschel“I like together.” Flauschi looked towards the spare seat. Flauschi“My word is welcome.
FlauschiEven if someone arrives later or would rather sit quietly for a while.” Outside, the golden leaves stirred. They listened for a moment.
Puschel“We still need one more,” whispered Puschel. Flauschi smiled. Flauschi“Time?”
Puschel thought about it. Time for a story. Time to laugh.
Time to try something again. Puschel“Yes. Time,” he said.
Slowly, they said their three words: together, welcome, time. None of them had to fit on a piece of paper. They could simply keep them in mind.
Puschel“And cake?” Puschel asked at last. Flauschi laughed again.
Flauschi“I’m sure we can find some time for that later too.”
