An Invitation for Later

Puschel draws an invitation at the small low coffee table while Flauschi watches; the Christmas chest and nut bowl stand beside it on the floor.
A little welcoming picture can wait until everyone finds a suitable day.

Puschel pulled a white card closer. Puschel“If welcome is one of our Christmas words, we need an invitation!” he said.

With a red pencil, he drew the Wuselhouse. Beside it, he added two colourful paw prints. Flauschi moved closer.

Flauschi“That looks friendly. Which day is it for?” Puschel stopped drawing.

Puschel“For later.” Flauschi smiled. Flauschi“Later is not a date yet.”

Puschel“Then we will leave the date blank,” Puschel decided. He studied the little house. Its round windows should show how cosy it was inside.

Puschel“And who shall we invite?” Flauschi thought for a moment. Flauschi“We will decide together.

FlauschiAnd first we will ask whether they have time and would like to come.” Puschel nodded. His invitation did not have to go anywhere today.

It could wait beside the pencils. Puschel“Then it is an invitation idea,” he said happily. Puschel“With room for later.”

Flauschi smoothed a corner. Outside, the autumn leaves rustled. Christmas was still far enough away for a little idea to grow slowly into something lovely.

Your little preparation

Draw a friendly invitation with a house, a paw print or your own welcoming picture. It does not need a date today.

For adults: A drawn invitation does not commit anyone to a party or visit. Decide future guests and dates together and respect their wishes.
