Puschel’s Kitchen Measure

The cinnamon tin was back on the shelf. Puschel looked at the low table. Puschel“If we put a party plate here later, we should know how much room there is!”
He fetched a soft measuring tape and held it above the tabletop. Between his paws it hung in a big curve. Puschel looked very serious.
Puschel“The table has grown longer,” he announced. Flauschi laughed. Flauschi“Or your tape is taking a detour.”
Puschel looked at the loop. Puschel“Oh! I measured the air too.”
Together they laid the tape loosely and straight on the table, without pulling it. Now the result looked quite different. Puschel“Perhaps a little plate will fit,” Puschel said.
Flauschi“With room for our paws beside it,” Flauschi added. They did not need to choose a party plate today. Puschel rolled up the tape.
Puschel“Tomorrow I will measure something that is not made of air.” Flauschi smiled. Outside, the golden leaves rustled, and the table still had room for a new idea.
Your little preparation
Use your hands to compare the width of a small tabletop. Guess first, then look together.
For adults: Adults supervise measuring. Do not wrap tapes around body parts or pull them; put them away afterwards. Nobody needs to climb on furniture.
