The Rain Rhythm at the Window

The picture recipe lay face down on the low table. Today the autumn rain was drumming on the windowpane. Puschel stopped and pricked up his ears. PuschelPuschel: “The rain can make music!” Flauschi stepped beside him. FlauschiFlauschi: “Let us listen to it first.”
Outside, the golden leaves glistened. One drop ran slowly down the glass, followed by two smaller ones. Puschel held one paw open and tapped gently into it with the other: twice briefly, once for longer. Then he waited.
Flauschi clapped the same rhythm softly. Puschel grinned and carried on tapping much too fast. PuschelPuschel: “Now I am a cloudburst!” Flauschi laughed. FlauschiFlauschi: “Our little rain rhythm can have a pause too.”
They listened again. Puschel tried more slowly. Two little paw taps, one longer one and a pause. Flauschi answered with a quiet clap. The little bell stayed on its soft cloth; today the rain had a sound of its own.
PuschelPuschel: “We can save this rhythm for a cosy Christmas visit.” FlauschiFlauschi: “And anyone who would rather listen belongs with us just as much.” They played their little rhythm once more. Then they lowered their paws and watched the raindrops together.
Your little preparation
If you like, listen for a moment to the rain or another quiet everyday sound. Make up a short rhythm with gentle paw taps or soft claps and a pause. Simply listening is lovely too.
For adults: Taking part is optional; choose a comfortable volume. Keep the window closed, do not climb on furniture or tap the glass. Anyone sensitive to sound may just watch or choose a quiet alternative.
