A Star Between the Clouds

The rain had stopped. The picture recipe still lay face down on the low table. Puschel and Flauschi stood by the closed round window. A tiny bright point appeared between the dark clouds. Puschel raised one paw. PuschelPuschel: “There is a star!”
Flauschi looked where he was pointing. The paper star hung at the window as always; the other star was far away in the sky. FlauschiFlauschi: “It was probably there all along. Now we can see it.” Puschel nodded. A cloud drifted slowly onwards.
PuschelPuschel: “I am thinking of our woodland guest. I wonder if he is looking out of a window too?” Flauschi brought her paws together. FlauschiFlauschi: “Perhaps. We could tell him something lovely at Christmas.”
Puschel thought about it. He could not wrap up a star. But he could remember yesterday’s little rain rhythm and a funny story. PuschelPuschel: “Then we can give him an evening with time for his stories!” Flauschi smiled. FlauschiFlauschi: “And we can ask what would make him happy.”
They did not have to make or send anything today. A kind idea could stay in their thoughts for now. The little bell rested on its soft cloth. Outside, the star disappeared behind a cloud for a moment. The two friends waited in their warm room until its tiny point of light came into view again.
Your little preparation
If you like, think of someone you would like to make happy. What does that person enjoy? A little help, a kind greeting or time to listen can be lovely ideas. Nothing has to be finished today.
For adults: Taking part is optional. Keep windows closed and do not climb on furniture to look outside. Nobody has to share private names or wishes. Ask about someone’s preferences rather than assuming what will make them happy.
