The Blanket Test

Puschel loosely holds a soft green blanket around his body. Flauschi touches the fabric with one paw. Both stand with uncovered feet in their familiar room with round windows and autumn trees outside.
Puschel plays the test guest and tries out how cosy the soft blanket feels.

Outside, the yellow leaves rustled. In their room, Puschel fetched a soft green blanket. Yesterday they had been thinking about their woodland guest. Today he wanted to find out whether the blanket could make a winter visit cosy. Puschel“I am the test guest now!”

He draped the blanket around his shoulders and held its edges together in front of his tummy. His feet stayed uncovered on the floor. Flauschi gently stroked the fabric. Flauschi“Well? How does it feel to sit inside your cosiness?”

Puschel was still standing. Puschel“Very soft. But the sitting part is missing.” Flauschi giggled. She pointed to the nearby armchair. Puschel slowly slipped the blanket off his shoulders and laid it over the back of the chair. Then he could sit down comfortably and pull it loosely over his legs.

Flauschi“Now you can still move your paws.” Puschel happily wiggled his toes. Puschel“The test is passed. If our guest feels cold, we can offer him the blanket.” Flauschi nodded. Flauschi“And if he does not want it, it can simply stay here, ready.”

Beside the window, the little bell rested on its cloth. The paper star hung in its familiar place. Puschel stayed in the armchair for another moment. A cosy blanket did not need a big celebration. Sometimes a soft place and someone asking whether you felt comfortable were enough.

Your little preparation

If you like, feel a blanket with your hands. Is it soft, smooth or fluffy? Make yourself a cosy place while sitting down and say what feels comfortable to you.

For adults: Taking part is optional. Keep heads and faces uncovered, hold blankets loosely and do not walk around wrapped in them. Stay away from candles, fireplaces and other heat sources. Nobody has to be covered with a blanket.
