What happens when we stretch?
Puschel enjoys a gentle stretch. The Wusels discover how muscles and joints work together.

The short answer
Stretching changes joint positions and the length of muscles and other tissues. It lets you change your posture. Move only as far as feels comfortable: farther is not automatically better.

An imagined Wusel scene
Puschel and Flauschi investigate
After sitting, Puschel raises his arms comfortably. Flauschi reaches less far and stops sooner. At first he wants to compare who reaches highest. Then he notices: both have changed posture, and both can stop wherever it feels comfortable.

Understand step by step
How it works – simply explained
Body position changes
Gentle stretching moves joints into a different position. Some muscles and tissues lengthen; other muscles help maintain the posture.
The body gives feedback
Sensory information helps you and your brain judge how movement feels. Comfortable stretching differs from forceful pulling.
Your own range matters
Flexibility varies. You need not reach someone else’s angle. Stop at pain; pulling harder does not mean stretching better.
