Feelings & Togetherness
How can I ask for help?
A tricky ribbon gets easier when Puschel explains his wish.

The short answer
You can say or show which step needs help. Ask someone you trust and describe the difficulty as clearly as possible. You do not have to try everything alone first. If nobody responds, you may keep seeking help.

An imagined Wusel scene
Puschel and Flauschi investigate
Puschel tries to wrap a wide ribbon around a small empty box. The loop keeps slipping away.
Puschel“My paws need another paw.” Flauschi looks at him. Flauschi“What would you like help with?”
Puschel“Can you hold the end? I want to try the loop myself.”
Flauschi holds the ribbon loosely on the surface. This time Puschel makes a simple bow.
Puschel“I had help and still did something myself.” Flauschi“And next time you can ask again.”
Try explaining it
This question is about a fictional situation and considerate actions, not about which feelings you should have.

Understand step by step
What does this mean in everyday life?
Examples are possible situations. You need not feel a particular emotion or share a personal story.
Name the obstacle
A craft task fails because paper slides. Showing that part makes your need clearer.
Choose a useful request
Ask someone to hold, demonstrate or explain. They need not take over the whole project.
Keep asking for serious concerns
Seek a safe adult for danger or distress, and another if needed. Needing help is not weakness.
The key points again
Discovery 1
When a task is difficult, you can say or show where you need support. You do not have to manage everything alone first. Adults can listen and think it through with you.
Discovery 2
A clear request makes your need clearer: Can you show me the first step? or Can you hold this? You can then agree which part you would like to try yourself.
Discovery 3
Help is especially important with danger, injuries or serious distress. If the first person does not help, seek another trusted adult. Needing help is no reason to put yourself down.
