Puschel’s Mishaps · 27
The Puddle Splash

After the rain shower, the forest path shone in the sun. Puschel climbed onto his red bicycle and pedalled as enthusiastically as though a trophy waited beyond every bend.
Puschel“Flauschi, look! I can ride through the puddle without slowing down!”
That was true. Puschel did not slow down at all. Instead, a broad fountain of muddy water shot sideways from the puddle and landed directly on Flauschi’s freshly washed white dress.
Flauschi“Impressive. Would you like to splash the rest of the forest path onto my dress too?”
Puschel braked, saw the brown spots and lowered his ears. His delight instantly became a very guilty expression.
Puschel“No. But I will ride home at once and fetch a scrubbing brush, soap and my very best apologetic face.”
Flauschi stayed stern for another moment. Then his apologetic face made her smile just a little—and Puschel pushed the bicycle beside him all the way home.
