Four Garden Sections to the Centre

Four narrow paths circled the season wheel. The spring path was filled with cushions of flowers, the summer path hidden by tall grasses, the autumn path covered in slippery leaves and the winter path broken by small sheets of ice.

Flauschi“Four sections, four clues,” Flauschi said, tying the glass flower by its green ribbon to the finish post beside the wheel. Puschel crouched at the start. Puschel“This time the winner is not the fastest, but the one with the cleanest paws.”

Puschel hopped across the flower cushions and balanced on the warm stones. Flauschi ducked beneath the grasses and, from the neighbouring path, pointed out a safe place between the sheets of ice.

In every section, they discovered a little wooden tile. Each bore one of the same four signs as the wheel. When Puschel began to slide on the autumn path, he caught his balance with his tail and pushed the final tile across the finish line to Flauschi.

They arranged all four tiles in a circle before the wheel. The glass flower began to glow, yet the wheel remained silent. Puschel“Course completed,” Puschel said, taking a deep breath. Flauschi nodded. Flauschi“And now we know that every garden path belongs to one spoke. Tomorrow we shall discover how they work together.”
