Setting Off

A cart waited outside the Wusel Workshop, packed with everything Puschel considered essential: blankets, lanterns, three baskets, seven towels and a cushion for strenuous rests. Flauschi held the map.
Flauschi“We are only travelling beyond the hill, Puschel.”
Puschel“Exactly. Nobody knows how many towels may be required beyond a hill.”
At the fork, Puschel confidently pointed left. Flauschi turned the map upright. The festival meadow lay to the right. The golden acorn swung from the cart handle.
Flauschi“To the right, we shall arrive before evening. To the left, we could discover a very thorough detour.”
Puschel pushed the cart right. At the first root, the towels wobbled. Flauschi steadied them while Puschel carefully lifted the wheels across.
Puschel“It is fortunate that we brought only the essentials.”
Flauschi laughed and walked beside him. Beyond the hill, the flower arch appeared. Their cart was full, their map upright, and the golden acorn kept time with their steps towards the beginning of their festival adventure.
