The First Festival Recipe

The First Festival Recipe

In the Wusel Kitchen, Puschel’s enthusiasm and Flauschi’s steady paws meet a bowl full of berries.

Puschel tosses berries into the mixing bowl held by Flauschi.
The Great Meadow Festival

The recipe book lay open in the Wusel Kitchen. The golden acorn marked the page for festival cakes. Flauschi read the ingredients while Puschel was already lifting a basket full of berries.

Flauschi“The berries go slowly into the bowl.”

Puschel“I can do slowly. I can even do especially energetic slowly.”

The basket tipped. One red berry flew left, two blue ones flew right and one went straight upwards. Flauschi slid the bowl across the table and caught almost all of them. The final berry landed on Puschel’s nose.

Flauschi“Was that the especially slow part?”

Puschel nodded the berry into the bowl. Afterwards they held the basket together: Puschel supplied the enthusiasm and Flauschi chose the pace.

Puschel“Being slowly together is surprisingly quick.”

They stirred the mixture and wrote beside the recipe: suitable for the Meadow Festival. Soon the first berry cakes cooled beneath the golden acorn. It was their first festival recipe—and anticipation was already part of the flavour.
