An Evening Without Hurry

The red book lay closed on the low table. A green tip peeked out between its pages. Beside it waited the red pencil and a small stack of paper. Puschel looked at everything and rested his paws in his lap.
PuschelPuschel: “We could draw another invitation today. And find a recipe. And perhaps sort the whole Christmas chest already.” Flauschi sat beside him on the soft rug. FlauschiFlauschi: “We could also simply sit here for an evening.”
Puschel glanced at the paper star in the window. Outside, the golden leaves were slowly growing dark. A little fire danced in the fireplace. PuschelPuschel: “But then nothing will get finished today.” Flauschi smiled. FlauschiFlauschi: “Looking forward to Christmas does not have to finish something every day.”
The green blanket hung over the black leather armchair. The Christmas chest stayed closed in its place, and the little bell rested on its soft cloth. For a moment, Puschel listened only to the quiet crackling. Then he looked at Flauschi. PuschelPuschel: “Perhaps the paper would enjoy a break too.”
FlauschiFlauschi: “And we can enjoy the evening.” They moved a little closer together. Nobody had to draw, count or plan anything. The bookmark would still remember their place in the book tomorrow.
Puschel breathed out happily. PuschelPuschel: “Then today we will let Christmas come towards us nice and slowly.” Flauschi nodded. They sat together a little longer, enjoying their anticipation without hurrying.
Your little preparation
If you like, take a quiet moment together. You do not need to make or finish anything. Listening, talking or sitting quietly together is enough.
For adults: The break is optional and can be as short or long as feels comfortable. Choose a safe, cosy place away from fireplaces, candles and hot objects.
