Puschel’s Wusel Workshop

Colourful Wusel Lantern

Translucent paper and an LED light turn an empty jar into a safe, colourful Wusel light.

Puschel and Flauschi prepare colourful tissue paper, paste and a jar for their lantern

The little Wusel story

Puschel held a red scrap of paper against the window. Puschel“It already glows without a lamp!” Flauschi brushed paste onto the jar, and together they let red, yellow, blue and green tumble across it. When everything was dry, an adult placed the little LED light inside. Flauschi switched off the table lamp. Puschel became so quiet that they could almost hear the colours sparkle. Puschel“Now our evening has a colourful window,” he whispered.

What you need

  • a clean empty jar with no sharp edges
  • translucent tissue paper in several colours
  • child-friendly paste or decoupage glue
  • a soft brush
  • a piece of ribbon or string
  • a battery-powered LED tea light

How it works

  1. An adult checks and cleans the jar.
  2. Tear or cut the paper into small pieces.
  3. Brush a thin layer of paste onto the jar and overlap the paper pieces.
  4. Gently brush a little more paste over them and let the jar dry completely.
  5. Tie a ribbon around the rim and place only an LED light inside.

Adult help: The jar, scissors and placement of the light belong in adult hands. Use only a battery-powered LED light—never a real candle or open flame.
