The little Wusel story
Puschel cut a tree from dark paper while Flauschi made a sun. They glued coloured translucent paper to the backs. Both pictures glowed in daylight at the round window. Puschel proudly held up his tree. Flauschi took one look and giggled. Flauschi“Your tree’s roots are growing into the sky!” Puschel had hung the picture upside down: the leafy canopy pointed towards the floor. He spotted it too, turned the picture around and grinned. Puschel“Now my tree is back on its paws.” Together they fixed both pictures the right way up.
What you need
- black or dark craft card for two frames
- translucent tissue paper in bright colours
- a pencil and child-safe scissors
- a glue stick and removable tape suitable for glass
- a clean work mat
How it works
- Draw a simple sun and tree on dark craft card. An adult helps cut out the inner shapes, leaving sturdy frames.
- Tear or cut translucent paper into small pieces.
- Lay the frames face down and glue coloured pieces across the openings. Overlap them slightly so no gaps remain.
- Let the glue dry. Hold the pictures up to daylight and check which way is up for the tree.
- An adult attaches the pictures to an easy-to-reach windowpane with removable tape suitable for glass. Put the tape only on clean glass.
Adult help: Adults help with cutting and hanging. Children must never climb onto chairs or windowsills to reach a window. Use removable tape suitable for glass, not tape on frames or delicate surfaces.
